Homelessness

HOMELESSNESS

There are about 3.5 million Americans who are homeless each year. Homelessness

will always be present. Here you can narrow down your statistics to California specifically since your article is supposed to focus on California.  Is there any other background info you can provide to help set the context? demographics maybe? People who are experiencing unfortunate events such as

unemployment, illness, substance abuse are among the vast reasons of homelessness.

-great use of a chart!  This is very helpful for your readers.  Make sure to cite this also- you can include the website you got this from right under the image.

On the other hand, California offers hope to the homeless-great transition sentence. There is a new law,

the AB-1733 or the public records : Fee waiver. As of July 1st 2015, a person who is born in

California can now obtain a free  birth certificate from the county of their birth. And as of

January 1st 2016 , a homeless person may obtain a free California photo ID. This might be

just a small step but it can make huge difference. Most of the time applying for a job or

access to housing and food stamps requires identification and some people just could not

afford $28.00 for an ID.

-I like where you are going here including initiatives/legislation that are to help those with out a home.  I can see you inlcuding a few more of these and explaining their benefit to those who are homeless as well as the community.
-consider the homeless bill of rights, the right to free space, initiatives concerning housing and shelters, etc.

You don't judge people by the way they are living because you do not

have the knowledge to what they are going through.
-consider developing this idea into its own paragraph.  It comes out of no where in your conclusion since you don't mention anything about judging in your paper.  However, stereotypes is something you want to address at some level since it is in the prompt
-consider what are negative stereotypes of the homeless and how they influence our interaction and suppport

In conclusion, I think people should be more sensitive to homelessness. Life is simple

but it is just not easy.

Who knows, it could be you someday.
